WELCOME to our R.E.A.C.H. page!
My name is Meredith Love! I have been the R.E.A.C.H/GT Coordinator and Teacher for our campus since 1990! I taught 2nd grade and worked with GT students in various enrichment scheduled capacities from 1990-2008. Now I am our campus All-Level Self Contained Special Ed. Teacher and Pull-Out GT Teacher.
I have 29 years of teaching experience! Our goal for our campus GT Program is to provide enriching and higher level thinking activities to those student who qualify as well as provide campus teachers with tips on how they can foster more creativity and higher level skills in their classroom.
Just what does R.E.A.C.H. mean anyway???
Recognizing and Enriching the Academically Creative at Hardin Jefferson
Just how can a kid qualify for GT?
Nominations - either nomination of self, by the teacher or by the parent justifies the beginning of the screening process.
What happens next?
PAPERWORK - teachers and parents must complete some documents. Once I have permission to screen a child, I give a battery of screening measures to determine intelligence, academic success and creativity. All information collected is placed on the matrix we have in place that determines the rank in criteria of all scores. Students must have 4 of 5 criteria mastered in order to qualify and be admitted to the GT Enrichment Class. Every campus follows this procedure to ensure continuity across the district. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org anytime!
